Triantafyllia (Lageni)

Picturesque and traditional village, where stone prevails, with beautiful natural environment and good climate. Triantafyllia belongs to the municipality of Florina, is located at an altitude of 1260 m. It is 13 km from the city of Florina. The old settlement of 1800, was located in a place near Ydrousa, a place from which the population was moved to where it is today, due to the unhealthy climate. The village of Triantafyllia began to be built from 1900 to 1935. The inhabitants of the village derive their income from agriculture, animal breeding and lumbering.
Around the settlement there are the Pot Cherkva, Dimol Dol and Deluicina springs with cool and turquoise water and the peaks of Blaugno (from where the view is spectacular), Jankoffrit and Oxtrystata.
Two rivers also flow in the area: the river “Golema Reka” which originates from Vitsi and the river “Mala Reka” which originates from small springs in the village. The flora of the place consists mainly of oaks and beech trees and the fauna of bears, wolves and foxes.
The village celebrates on 2/5 of Agios Athanasios and a festival is held on 26/7 of Agios Paraskevi in the village’s homonymous church. The tradition says that the church of Ag. Paraskevi was built before 1900 in the same place where there was a chapel in the name of the saint, which was burnt down by the Turks. The church of St. Athanasius, which is located outside the village, was built in 1870, but unfortunately nothing remains today of the original form, icons and the carved wooden iconostasis.
In Triantafyllia there are two old watermills: The first one is located at “Pappou Naoumi”, 500 m from the settlement and was built around 1910. The second one is at the place “Dimol Dol” 450 m. from the settlement and was built in 1930.
