Local Festivals (Panigiria)
In the Municipality of Florina, in almost all the villages the festival (panigiri) takes place on the day of the celebration of the Saint to whom the village church is dedicated. All festivals in the area are celebrated for two days, from noon of the day before until the dawn of the day after the celebration. All the inhabitants of the county go to every festival to dance and revel.
Local traditional dances dominate the festivals, although in recent years they have been accompanied by other national dances and songs. Many of them feature local dance groups wearing the traditional costumes of their village.
