Museum of Modern Art

The Museum of Modern Art of Florina has been operating since 1977 in one of the oldest and most historic buildings of the city. The peculiarity of its foundation and operation lies solely in the passion and love of the people responsible, who have worked and continue to work for this purpose all these years, but also in the heartfelt response of the public of Florina. The content of its permanent collection, which today numbers about 700 works by renowned artists of all forms of contemporary Greek art (and not only), justifies its character as a Museum of Contemporary Art, because it covers the post-1950 period. In its halls, works by Greek and foreign artists, from Chagall and Nicholson to Moralis and Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, are on rotation. The works of Rengos, Kanakakis, Plakotaris, Rengos, Kapralos, Botsoglou, Dimitreas, Halepas, Kalamaras, Grammatopoulos, Moralis, Nikolaos, Sikeliotis, Choklis, etc. His permanent collaboration with the National Gallery reveals the foundations of his quality and seriousness.
In addition to events of an artistic nature, the Museum hosts musical concerts, literary evenings and scientific conferences on culture. It is a rare phenomenon that a small association is responsible for the establishment and operation of a museum of visual arts on the edge of the Greek periphery.
