Latin American – European dances

In Latin America each genre of music is identified with a corresponding dance. They are all lively rhythms with finesse and explosiveness. What we now call “Latin American music” is a blend of traditional music of indigenous peoples with African (Negro) sounds influenced by European music, mainly Spanish music.
The term ‘Latin’ generally describes Latin American dances, but also includes the Spanish dance Flamenco, which has no roots in any Latin American country.
All Latin dances have something different to offer. Each dance has other characteristics, another style, another technique, another expression.
Authentic Latin dances include, among many others, the Son, Bolero, Cha Cha, Rumba, Bomba, Plena, Salsa, Mambo, Cumbia, Merengue, Bachata, Samba, Gafiera, Lambada, Pagode, Tango, Milonga, all of them with origins in Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Latin dances are usually danced in couples, are faster-paced than European dances, are more sensual and put more emphasis on correct rhythmic expression.
Latin dances are taught in Florina by local clubs.Their aim is to transmit the knowledge of the dance in a pedagogical and creative way.Their aim is to transmit the love and magic of dance to their students.Every year they organize performances and events within the framework of the cultural events of the Municipality of Florina with great success and great attendance.
