The artificial lake – Triantafyllia Dam

A beautiful artificial lake in the shadow of Mount Vernon (Vitsi), is the artificial lake of the dam of Triantafyllia on the Asprorema stream.
It is located 10 km from the city of Florina and just 1,5 km from the settlement of Ydrousa.
The dam is built at an altitude of 844 metres, is 73 metres high, 510 metres long and 16 metres wide and covers an area of 486 hectares. Its waters irrigate 45 000 hectares in the plain of Florina and are intended to cover the irrigation needs of the city of Florina.
It takes its name from the neighboring settlement of Triantafyllia, from where the Asprorema stream also originates.
The lake, mainly due to its proximity to the city of Florina, attracts many visitors and amateur fishermen as it has been enriched with various species of fish.
The natural landscape around the lake is beautiful. On summer days, especially on weekends, many young people and families flock to have a wonderful picnic by the water, enjoy the view of the plain from above, admire the reflection of the mountains in the peaceful waters of the lake and the green hillsides that surround it.
