Church of Prophet Ilias – Achlada

On the top of a small hill located 400 m. northeast of the village is the chapel of Prophet Ilias.
There is a legend that the small chapel was built at night by the villagers to avoid the wrath of the Turks. No external evidence gives away the existence of the church. The niche of the sanctuary does not protrude.
Around the temple there is the cemetery where in the past, in place of the crosses, upright stones (markers) were placed in the graves.
Prophet Elias is a rectangular space with internal dimensions of 3.85×6.20 m.
The nave is covered with a four-pitch wooden roof. Its entrance is located on the west side and is low. The exterior of the building gives the impression of an ordinary hut.
Recently this small church was renovated with the sponsorship of the Achlada Mining Company.
