Monument to the Fighters of the Democratic Army of Greece

The statues of the fighters are made of brass while the base of the monument is made of marble. The names of the dead fighters are engraved on the marble slabs.
In 2009, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) bought this plot of land to place the monument to the heroic and honoured dead of the Battle of Florina. The process of erecting the monument took some time. The monument is the work of Memos Makris and with the contribution of friends and comrades of the KKE from Hungary, the construction and placement of the monument took place.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece organized an event in the city of Florina on Sunday 16 February 2016 where the unveiling of the monument to the fighters of the IDF took place. The unveiling of the monument was done by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece.
The monument of the IDF of Florina is located at 16 Kolchikis Street near the city.
800-850 fighters of the Democratic Army of Greece (DAG) were buried at this location for about sixty years.
Today, the former mass grave is a monument that honours all those who fell in the Battle of Florina in 1949.
