Residence of Brothers Mellios

The building at 58 Augοustinou Kantioti Street, a ferrous property of the Melliou brothers, was designated as a listed building as it is a building with a special architectural and morphological character. It is a traditional building of the early 20th century with newer interventions of the interwar period with elements of traditional – folk architecture and classicism, which refer to a local architecture with influences of European currents.
Lazaros was born in Florina in 1929 and passed away in 2014.
He studied at the Pedagogical Academy of Florina and worked as a teacher until 1977. He also taught for six years in the Greek Schools of Constantinople.
Throughout his professional career he remains an active member of the Educational Association of Florina. “Aristotle” and constantly publishes in his “Magazine”, short stories, poems and folklore of Florina.
He has written more than forty books and monographs, has collaborated with many magazines, newspapers and radio and television stations on folklore, history, book reviews, theatre, etc.
He was one of the oldest choristers of Aristotle. He also participated in the church choirs that occasionally existed in our town.
He has given many speeches and lectures both in Greece and abroad. (Canada – Australia)
He has received various awards from the President of the Republic, the Ecumenical Patriarch, Generals, Mayors and Prefects.
