Agios Georgios ( St.George)-Proti

Before 1928 the settlement was called Kabasnitsa. In the village there is the church of Agios Georgios, which is also the cemetery church of the village. It is one of the largest churches in the region. It is a three-aisled wooden-roofed basilica with a loggia. In the central nave there is a false truss that does not protrude externally on the gable roof of the church. The apse of the sanctuary has the familiar relief arches and the illuminated slit. At the rear of the church to the left and above the window is a limestone plaque with a building inscription dated 1890.
On the noon side of the temple, in the SE corner, there is another inscription carved in limestone with the same date.
There is a tradition that in the place of the church there was another older one built in memory of the same saint…The previous church was built in 1808.
In the churchyard there is a later independent turreted bell tower built in 1920.
