Nikis Border Station

On Monday 31 January 2011, the new modern border station of Nikis started operating.
A new customs station, built to international standards, is now a modern gateway, which has nothing to envy from developed European countries.
The Niki Customs House has been developed on a fifty-acre site, with a budget of 6.6 million euros.
The area of the main customs facilities is 1,000 sqm. The area has a shelter for the unimpeded control of vehicles and passengers under any weather conditions. A visitor service building, a restaurant and cafeteria of 450 m2, dormitories for customs and police staff of 200 m2, offices and auxiliary buildings for the needs of the customs authorities, a guardhouse for the army, bridge towers and storage areas were also constructed.
For its operability, the new Niki customs office was connected to the new vertical axis of the Egnatia road, Niki – Florina – Kozani, while the landscaping of the surrounding area was also carried out. However, the construction of the facilities was carried out in accordance with the most modern standards, as the aim was to upgrade the processing of customs procedures for entering and leaving our country.
