The suburban forest of the hill “Ag. Panteleimon”

The suburban forest of the hill of “Ag. Panteleimon” is the main lung of the city. It has an area of 3,750.00 ha and a maximum altitude of 1215 meters.
Starting from the city center, we find wonderful paths of natural beauty that help us to relax while enjoying the magnificent view of the city. From the point of Stavros in autumn and spring when the horizon is clear, the mountains of Kozani and even Mount Olympus are visible.
It is an ideal destination for morning or afternoon walks. A network of paths and roads offers us the opportunity for walks, bike rides and picnics in a green environment in such close proximity, almost in the city.
The Visitor can navigate through the forest, choosing and exploring various routes. Along the entire length of the trails you will find kiosks, benches, springs and water fountains. Along the way he will find the archaeological site (Hellenistic city), and the chapels of St. Panteleimon, St. Dimitrios, Agia Kyriaki, ending at the top, where the Cross is located, which is 33.00 meters high, and the chapel of the Transfiguration of the Savior, at an altitude of about 1020 m in the position “koula”, in a unique location of natural beauty, with a panoramic view of the basin and the surrounding mountains.
