Potato Festival

Ammochori is a village of the Municipality of Florina, located 9 km east of Florina, built at an altitude of 639 m. From the old times the village was famous for the quality of its potatoes, which were produced in large quantities in the plain. This reputation of the Ammohori potato contributed to the establishment of the annual Potato Festival, which takes place in the summer, in order to promote this local product.
The Potato Festival takes place in the central square of the village and is organised by the Local Association and the Local Community of Ammochori, with the support of the Municipality of Florina. During the event, the main role is of course played by the potatoes, which are cooked in various ways, known and unknown, by the women of the village and offered to the attendees, along with accompanying dishes. At the same time, various exhibitions are presented, and there are stalls where traders sell their products. Traditional music by a live orchestra and dancing are also part of this original celebration, which attracts a large number of visitors to the village every year.
