Revival of the custom “Lazara” or “Lazarines”

The Lyceum of the Hellenic Women of Florina in cooperation with the Municipality of Florina, offered beautiful moments of joy with music and dance in the context of the revival of the custom. As every year, the revival begins, according to the custom, with the established church service in the church of St. Panteleimon of the city of Florina and the Holy Communion of the Lazarinas. Then with the sounds of brass instruments the group crosses the city singing and dancing. In the central square, wishes are exchanged, carols are sung and eggs and “lazarakia” (special buns in human form) are distributed to the people, according to the custom.
